We were thrilled to have the opportunity to visit two new schools on our trip. We had never been to these areas before. The leadership of both schools did not have advance notice that we were coming, therefore, we would wait outside of the school while Pastor Joshua went into the school offices to request an opportunity for us to speak to the students. At one school, as we were waiting, the students were able to tell us what they knew of God and Jesus. They knew a lot about Him... but they didn't know Him personally. I told Amy that I thought the fields were ripe for harvest.
Each school gave permission after having a chance to meet each of us and learn of our motive. We desired to share the Word of God with them and introduce the True Love Waits program.
Permission granted, the students sat under trees anxious to greet us and hear from us. They sang some songs for us. Amy shared the gospel and at each school, there were at least a hundred students that prayed to receive Christ. Praise the Lord for tender hearts.
I was then given an opportunity to speak to them. I shared some encouragement to the teachers through scripture. Then I introduced the concept of living a life for Christ. Now that many were saved, God wants them to live holy lives. We didn't skirt the issue that HIV has infected so many on the island. I was sure to tell them that the main reason for True Love Waits was to honor God with our mind and body. I shared scripture with them and asked for commitments to sexual purity. There were over a hundred decisions at each school. The fact that this decision could save their lives is an added blessing.
Thanks to many for praying. We know that Jesus loves the children and is pleased to have so many come to Him. These kids have their whole lives to live for Him. Pray for the pastors that will be making follow up visits to these schools. The schools have told us that we are welcome to come back. Karibu (welcome)
